Travelling to Mexico?

Posted on May 14th, 2009 by Ambassador: Rob Logie

…Say goodbye to cancellation and emergency health benefits!

I was curious about what travel issues we as Canadians are now facing with the H1N1 flu racing around 30 countries.  What I found took me a bit by surprise.

I learned that given The Foreign Affairs Department issued a travel warning against Mexico April 27, 2009, cancellation/interruption insurance will not be covered (to Mexico after that time) and emergency health benefits may not be covered.  This will continue until the Canadian Government rescinds its warning.

I am not suggesting to throw away your dream trip to Mexico.  What I am saying is gather as much information as you can to make an informed decision.  I truly believe this should be done before leaving for ANY destination!  Knowledge is power folks … so be powerful and enjoy your vacations!  OH … and if you find a neat off the beaten track restaurant, hotel, shop or bar … let me know about it!!
