Vancouver Queer Film Festival: Ciao & Boycrazy
Celebrating it’s 21st anniversary this year, The Vancouver Queer Film Festival begins it’s 11 day run starting August 13 til August 23, 2009. The VQFF celebrates the best in independent queer film making and is the second biggest film festival in Vancouver. During this 11 day festival, there will be performances, workshops, panel discussions, parties and more.
This year, Homorazzi.com is proud to be a media sponsor for the first time. In fact, we are sponsoring two films this year at the festival- Ciao and Boycrazy. Ciao has won several awards at previous screenings at other festivals while Boycrazy screening at VQFF will be it’s Canadian premiere. The director of Boycrazy will even be at the screening as well as some of the Homorazzi cast. We will there to watch the films and document the event as well. Make sure you mark the two following dates and join in on the fun. Even if you don’t check out these two films we are sponsoring, I implore you to check out at least one of the films at this year’s film festival. A lot of hard work and effort has been put forth to produce this event as well as each of the individual films and it would great if we could all show our support. Festival tickets & individual show tickets can be purchased here.

Ciao
Synopsis
A man dies very unexpectedly and leaves behind two men: Jeff, his best friend and Andrea, an Italian he’s been corresponding with online. Jeff informs Andrea of Mark’s passing; Andrea writes back to express his shock and sympathies. On a whim, they continue their correspondence and a rapport grows between them. They eventually meet, where they extend their e-mail exchanges into more personal and intimate conversations. They talk about their respective countries, their jobs, their families, their lives. Mostly, they talk about Mark. What began as a tragedy that linked two strangers from different ends of the world becomes a deeply realized friendship that may change their lives forever.

Boycrazy
Synopsis
“Everywhere I go there’s a guy to catch my eye. It makes me kinda crazy, like I’m back in junior high.” Is Corey- the dream lead in Boycrazy- singing your song? If so, there are plenty of guys to catch your eye in this lineup of men’s short films.
Corey enjoys the single gay life, while searching for love (or at least a connection) in such places as the gym, beach and even a singing chat-room. When two love interests, co-worker Derek and ex-boyfriend Nathan, pursue Corey at the same time, he must decide between them. In a world of four sexy Dancers, along with his roommate Rebecca and her girlfriend, Sam, Corey explores his priorities and celebrates the joys of dating in this delightful musical.

Directed by: John Sobrack
