Best Male Torso’s in Film

Posted on September 7th, 2009 by lily

A British movie site ran a poll to rate the best torsos seen on the silver screen. The list of rippled and rugged leading men had a few surprises, but it should be no shocker who topped the Brits’ hard-body poll. Bond, James Bond, himself comes in on top in the form of Daniel Craig’s smoldering splendor in those baby blue swim trunks, coming out of the surf in Casino Royale. The celluloid clip displaying Craig’s amazing bod has previously been honored with a reproduction in popsicle form across the pond.

It certainly is a sight to behold:

Equally stunning was the first runner-up: Gerard Butler and his cut-to-precise-perfection physique as King Leonidas in the epic 300. Brad Pitt secures the third spot, also for a soldier portrayal, in Troy, followed by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in his memorable green “mankini.” The original Bond, Sean Connery, rounds out the top five with his shirtless screen time in Thunderball. You can never go wrong with a classic like Connery. He was securing the whole stunningly handsome and debonair older man thing when George Clooney was still doing TV sitcoms.

The rest of the top 10 are ranked below:
1. Daniel Craig in Casino Royale (2006) — 34%
2. Gerard Butler in 300 (2006) — 21%
3. Brad Pitt in Troy (2004) — 14%
4. Sacha Baron Cohen in Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) — 7%
5. Sean Connery in Thunderball (1965) — 6%
6. Leonardo DiCaprio in The Beach (2000) — 5%
7. Hank Azaria in Along Came Polly (2004) — 4%
8. Elvis Presley in Blue Hawaii (1961) — 3%
9. Russell Brand in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) — 2%
10. Jan-Michael Vincent in Big Wednesday (1978)

Two favorite ogle-worthy scenes didn’t make the cut:
