Coming Soon: A Facebook Movie Starring Justin Timberlake

Posted on October 7th, 2009 by lily

The social networking site that changed the way millions of members interact online is getting the Hollywood treatment with a big biopic. Columbia Pictures has trusted director David Fincher to film a modern tale of young Internet moguls.

The script for The Social Network was written by West Wing scribe Aaron Sorkin, based on Ben Mezrich’s book on the genesis of Facebook: The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal.

Timberlake is set to star as Sean Parker, the Napster cofounder who also went on to be Facebook’s founding president. Adventureland‘s Jesse Eisenberg will bring nerd credibility to the role of Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Andrew Garfield, who you may remember as Tom on Sugar Rush, has been cast as Eduardo Saverin, the site’s other cofounder, who clashed with Zuckerberg over fiscal matters.

Principle photography is set to start in Boston in October and continue in Los Angeles. Kevin Spacey is an executive producer of the film.
