With over 40 female musicians and singers announced already, the music festival will also boast Sheryl Crow, Metric, A Fine Frenzy, Emmylou Harris, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Sara Bareilles, Colbie Caillat, Corinne Bailey Rae, Erykah Badu, Sugarland, Tara MacLean, the Weepies, and many more to come.

McLachlan, founder of the unique festival, wrote on the site, “Being a part of Lilith Fair was inspiring on so many levels. Besides discovering new music every day and sharing the stage with an incredible array of talented women, it was wonderful to see established and new artists alike have the opportunity to play in front of much larger or more diverse audiences than usual.”

Featured artists like Crow, Badu, and Canadian indie-rock duo Tegan and Sara were part of the original three-year run of Lilith Fair a decade ago. Tegan Quin said she was “proud to be a part of it again” because she and sister Sara “played one of the last Lilith Fair shows ever 10 years ago in Edmonton, Alberta. We only played one show and it was on the smallest stage, in the rain, to nearly no one. And yet, for the past 10 years, it continues to come up in almost every interview and is something we honestly look back on as a very important event in our career. The impact of Lilith Fair was felt all over the world, and its significance still resonates with women and the music industry itself 10 years later.”

greetings from halifax,

just a note and a general overview of the upcoming pop explosion that halifax hosts annually:

it’s going to be amazing. don’t let the name pop explosion fool you into thinking it’s going to be all one genre. the name may be generic but the festival is anything but. it’s a very queer friendly festival, as most are and it hosts many different music acts each year! memorable performances from years past include spiral beach, as well as tegan and sara. i attended many of the previous acts, including tegan and sara-all of which were fantastic. the venues are small which allow for an intimate concert as well as incredible picture taking opportunities- if you’re into photography. which you should be.

this year the festival runs from october 20 to 24. some of the bands that have already been confirmed include japanther and mstrkrft. tickets (regular and vip) are already on sale! you can get ticket info here and more info on the festival
here

you can be sure i’ll be there, will you?
